Q+A With Bates Events!
You can easily find surface information about our company and it’s team members, but Amy and I thought it would be fun to let you guys in on our behind the scenes with a Q+A!
What do you love most about your job?
A- I really love the flexibility and versatility of the industry. I love being able to utilize both my creative and logistical skill set makes every week an adventure!
S- My passion is serving others. I absolutely love making guests feel welcome at an event, and providing hospitality to not only our clients but our event attendees as well! I also love the flexible hours during the week, the camaraderie within our team and with our event vendors, and the creative outlet that the job allows! 🙂
What does your day-to-day look like?
A- A lot more computer work, e-mails, and paper-work than you would think there is for a meeting and event planner!
S- What I also love about this job is that everyday is different! Sometimes we are in the office lining out proposals, preparing creative inspiration for an event and other days we are meeting with clients and vendors or on site-visits!
What is your favorite type of event?
A- That’s an easy one – I really enjoy the structure of corporate meeting and event planning.
S- I really enjoy the wide variety of events that our industry has to offer! There is always something new or exciting on the horizon!
What are some challenges about the job?
A- As most events happen on nights and weekends, juggling a career and a family can be a challenge!
S- Hm… where there are quite a few challenges! Forbes rated Event Planning #5 in the top 10 most stressful jobs of 2017! The pressure to pull off a flawless, successful event to please your clients is through the roof – it’s also one of the aspects I love most about it. I LOVE a challenge!
What do you like to do for fun outside of work?
A- I love to travel! It’s a great way for me to get inspired through other venues, hotels, restaurants, etc.
S- I love enjoying time with friends and family. I really enjoy going fishing with my husband Collin! I also run a personal blog and I enjoy spending my free time putting some of my creative efforts into that as well! 🙂
One place in the world you’d like to visit?
S- Ah only one place?! Well I’d really love to visit Switzerland, Paris, Explore London and much much more but 1st on my list as of right now would be Switzerland!
Best event memory?
A- We had a conference that partnered with Google and we had a meeting on-site at the Google headquarters in California!
S- This is a hard one, I don’t know if I have one “best ever” but I can say that my favorite part of an event is when a client thanks us for our services and expresses their satisfaction with the event. When my client is happy I know that the event was a success for them and that means it’s a success for us! 🙂
